On October 21st, the first China College Students "Internet Plus" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, initiated by Premier Li Keqiang, held its closing ceremony in Changchun, Jilin Province. Four projects from CSUST fought their way into the national finals, three of which were shortlisted among the top 100. CSUST was granted the collective prize for its two gold awards, one silver award and one bronze award, which attracted nationwide attention.
The competition, coorganized by the Ministry of Education, the National Reform and Development Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Human Resources and Social Security, the CYL Central Committee and the Jilin Provincial People's Government, attracted more than 57,000 teams from over 1,800 colleges and universities in 31 provinces and municipalities. Over 36,000 works were submitted and more than 200,000 college students participated.
Teams from CSUST won the only two gold medals for its two projects "cutcake Prince" (practical projects) and "self-healing system of power grid" (Creative Project).
Mr. Tan Chuansheng, Vice President of CSUST, mentioned that the good results could be mainly contributed to the prioritization of talent training and cultivation of students’ innovation and entrepreneurship of CSUST. He further asserted that CSUST would make efforts in investment, guidance and joint participation of students and teachers and endeavor to make breakthroughs in originality.
On the closing ceremony of the competition, Mr. Yuan Guiren, Minister of Education, stressed that all colleges and universities should further enhance innovation and entrepreneurship in order to deepen educational reform and development, and promote the concept of people-centered education, co-education and prioritization of both knowledge and practice, through the profound change of which the quality of talent training can be driven forward.
