On February 24th a grand signing ceremony was held at the third conference hall of No. 1 administrative building of Yuntang campus. Professor Xie Yimin from RMIT University was invited as the distinguished professor of our school under the program of “Hunan scholars”. School leaders including Mr. Wang Yaozhong, the secretary of Communist Party of China’s CUST committee, Mr. Fu Yuanhong, the vice president; Mr.Ye Ze, the vice president ect. attened the ceremony.
The siging ceremony was presided over by Mr. Fu Yuanhong. To begin with, Mr. Ye Ze briefly introduced the basic imformation of Professor Xie. Then on behalf of CUST Mr. Wang Yaozhong signed the contract with Professor Xie Yimin. At the same time the letter of appointment and our school’s emblem were also awarded. Mr.Wang Yaozhong extended warm welcome to Professor Xie and noted that Professor Xie is the first distinguished professor jointly invited by two disciplines, hoping that Professor Xie could make more suggustions and comments in line with his own influence in this discipline and his profound knowledge so as to futher develop our school’s mechanical engineering and civil engineering. Mr.Wang also remarked that now it is a crucial period for our school to cultivate our discipline so we hope this opportunity will enable us to strengthen international academic exchange so as to further improve the overall level of our disciplines.
In his speech Professor Xie Yimin expressed his sincere gratitude for giving him this opportunity and talked about his working plan after signing. In the future, Prof.Xie said he would do his utmost to make contributions to the development of CUST and its disciplinary construction.
